About Us


We are a Pilates studio that has proudly been serving the Tempe area for 10+ years through group classes and private training. We offer 60+ classes seven days a week, including early mornings, nights, and weekends. You never have to sign a contract here, and our early-cancel policy allows you to change your schedule up to four hours before class starts. Our class and private packages are affordable, and we offer many different options to fit your budget.

Our studio specializes in Reformer Pilates, with all-level classes, targeted workouts, and private sessions. Our group classes include less than 6 people for personalized attention, and each one of our 10 teachers are Pilates certified and equipped with the skills to teach all ages and abilities. Our classes include Reformer Pilates, Mat Pilates, Tower Pilates, Barre, TRX, Naam Yoga, and LifeStretch. We also offer specialized services, including private lessons and AromaTouch.

We truly believe that through Pilates, our clients can gain physical and emotional strength, become flexible in all aspects of life, and can achieve amazing things.

Kris Zahn, Owner

Kris was first introduced to Reformer Pilates in 1994 at a health spa in Tucson. As a professional bowler, she used resistance and stretching - Pilates incorporated both! She wanted to open a Pilates studio, but was the owner of Zahn's Tempe Bowl. In 2008, she was a client at a Pilates studio that closed and she jumped at the chance to reopen it. Pilates Tempe was born! Her business experience is extensive. She owned and operated a bowling center, consulted with other owners, and created a national high school bowling program as the National Dir. of High School Bowling. She is not shy about speaking to people due to her years a a motivational speaker, Color Analyst for the Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour on ESPN, and Asst. Dir. of Admissions at a college in Philadelphia.   

Kris knew she loved teaching from her years as a Bowling Coach and her degree from Temple University. She had found her new career, which meant mat & apparatus teacher training, followed by barre and LifeStretch®. She is at her happiest when teaching and making clients say "RIBBIT"!

Brad Badke

Brad has been teaching TRX since March 2014 and teaching Pilates since February 2015. His Pilates training was completed through Pilates Sports Center.  

Brad was introduced to Pilates about five years ago in 2011 by Kris Zahn and discovered it to be a fun and invigorating workout. If Brad could reduce Pilates practice to just one key element, it would be personal mental engagement while performing each exercise. His previous fitness background includes powerlifting, football, and martial arts. His other education background includes study in Bio-Engineering along the way to earning a PhD in Electrical Engineering.​ 

CoDi Stenson

CoDi started her Pilates journey in 2004. She began to study the classic method of Pilates in the Washington DC area, and after spending years encouraging others to experience Pilates for themselves, she became a certified instructor through Pilates Sports Center. she has always had a passion for movement, health and wellness. After spending nearly 18 years working in cybersecurity, she decided to pursue her passion for wellness full-time and opened her company, Resilient Mind & Body, LLC. in 2016. CoDi is now a Certified Life and Health Coach and spends her time helping people regain their health and live their best lives possible. She also specializes in developing corporate wellness programs for companies. In addition to her Pilates certification, she is also a certified Barre and TRX instructor. Her previous professional background as a security expert includes time spent at the Pentagon, Amazon, Disney and Charles Schwab. CoDi’s formal education includes a B.A. in Political Science & Criminal Justice, an M.A. in Computer Forensics as well as an MBA. When she is not coaching or teaching, she enjoys spending time with her dog, hiking and traveling. 

Dianne McKee

In high school, Dianne was a gymnast and cheerleader, and then her love of physical fitness led her to aerobics, running, skiing, and hiking. Later in life, she began having pain in both hips which led to four years of chronic, debilitating pain. During that time, she desperately searched for a form of exercise that allowed her to move her body without causing additional pain. Dianne finally discovered Pilates!  She was diagnosed with a congenital deformity in both hips and underwent complete replacement. Following the surgeries and physical therapy, she convinced her doctor to let her finish rehabilitation at Pilates Tempe. Throughout this time, she gained a deep appreciation and passion for the mind and body benefits that Pilates offers. She was inspired to teach Pilates so that she could share her experience and passion with others. She now teaches Mat and Reformer Pilates, as well as Burn at the Barre®.

Gabi Mazar

An Arizona native, Gabi has always been an active, well-rounded athlete, with 10 years of personal training experience under her belt. Maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle has always been important to her. Her passion for health and fitness blossomed into helping others experience and find their passion for leading a healthier lifestyle.

Gabi received her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary studies at Arizona State University, with concentrations in Small Business and Exercise and Wellness. Upon graduation, she interned and worked for Bob Mathews with Power1k. She is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), Fascia Stretch Therapy (FST), and training with the Pilates Core Integration (PCI).

Kimra Zadik

Kimra discovered the incredible benefits of Pilates after years of living with a misaligned pelvis caused by a broken sacrum. Amazed by the results, she grew passionate about sharing her success and started Power Pilates training in 2007. Healthy living and wellness has always been a priority in her life and her passion is to share that with others.​  

Kimra is married and has two active teenage boys. She has always enjoyed physical fitness and staying active by hiking, biking, running, walking, yoga and Pilates. She loves teaching because assisting clients in achieving their fitness/wellness goals is the most rewarding gift of all! Her approach to Pilates is exercise and body work as a healing, dynamic workout. On a daily basis she is inspired by the changes she sees in her clients' bodies and feels so grateful to share her passion of Pilates with all her wonderful clients!

Lindsey Bannister


Balanced Body Pilates Training®

Lindsey fell in love with Pilates after her first child was born in 2012. She originally used it as a method to get back into shape after her baby, but soon learned about all the other benefits Pilates had on her body. It even helped relieve discomfort due to her mild scoliosis. After leaving an International Logistics Career of 12 years to be a stay at home mom, she decided that her new path would be helping people feel better and stronger through Pilates. She got pregnant with her second child halfway through her apprenticeship and gained allot of knowledge about teaching and practicing Pilates pregnant. She also has experience with clients with Osteoporosis and various other back conditions.  Lindsey is an Arizona native and has always enjoyed being active in the beautiful AZ weather. She loves swimming, weight lifting, chasing her kids around, and walking her golden-doodle.  She looks forward to continuing to expand her knowledge of Pilates and fitness.  Lindsey is excited for this amazing new career path to help people feel better inside and out. 

Naomi Placella


Naomi started her career in fitness as a young child participating in team sports, dance, diving, and equestrian eventing.  As a young adult she relocated to Manhattan to pursue her career in classical ballet and acting. After several years of dancing professionally she found herself plagued with injuries, and all together not feeling well.  At the advice of a friend, she began Pilates mat class as a form of rehabilitation. This was a turning point in her life. From that day forward, she knew her calling was to help others thrive, too.  

Naomi received her Core Mat I certification from Power Pilates in 2005, and Core Mat II in 2007. She also holds New York City Ballet Workout certification, completed in 2007. Before long, she began contemplating what she could do to impact her clients’ lives even more.  In 2012 Naomi relocated from the east coast to Tempe, AZ to peruse a degree in integrative medicine. She graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2015 as a Naturopathic Medical Doctor.

 She currently maintains a private practice and is also a licensed real estate agent. She has been teaching dance and Pilates to youth and adults for over 20 years and enjoys teaching as a rewarding way to spend her free time.

Sean Monkelien


PMA® Certified Pilates Teacher

TRX® Level 1 Certified

Sean has an active background and was always involved in sports, having swam competitively through college. The strength and function of the body was fascinating to him, so after receiving NSCA certification, he became a personal trainer as he earned his B.S. in Kinesiology from ASU.

When Sean tore his ACL, it was difficult because it challenged the confidence he had in his athletic ability, and threatened all the activities that he loves. Following physical therapy, he discovered Pilates as a way to continue rehabilitation and prevent further injury. After discovering the sense of balance and proprioception that Pilates created and the strength it could build, he became a teacher. He enjoys helping people learn about their bodies, overcome physical limitations and gain physical strength for sports and in their daily lives.

 About This Studio: Located on the east side of Pilates Tempe (with new steel barres, full-length mirrors, TRX straps with handle and adjustable feet straps, variety of foam rollers, yoga and Pilates mats, weights, resistance bands, and exercise balls in a large floor space)

Chairs: Designed for private sessions and enhanced Pilates work, includes: wide padded seat, soft foot pedal, and 8-way adjustable

I'm new! Where should I start?

We recommend all new clients sign up for a FREE Pilates Intro Session, or register for the Pilates Intro Class.

Is Pilates right for me?

Pilates is for everyone, and we truly stand behind this belief. From kids to teenagers to adults of all ages, we believe that Pilates can be beneficial, no matter where you are in your journey. Before Pilates, many of our clients had suffered injuries, had surgery, or were experiencing pain and Pilates has allowed them to gain back their strength and freedom. If you haven't tried Pilates before, we ask that you complete an intro offer to prepare you for what you may experience during a Pilates class. What should I bring/wear to the studio?

You'll be moving so athletic attire is best. Your clothing should allow for full range of motion - avoid tight sleeves and pants that don't allow for stretch. Pilates socks that grip are encouraged, but you may be barefoot as well. Fragrances are discouraged out of respect to other clients. All equipment, towels, water and personal toiletries are provided and there are cubbies in each room for all of your personal belongings.  

Do I have to sign a contract?

 Nope. We are a contract-free studio. This means you pay per package and are never under any obligation to re-purchase. We do offer automated payments and scheduling for our clients who wish to register for the same classes each week. Please contact us if you would like to set up this service. 

How do I schedule/purchase a class or private appointment?

To make reservations for a Free Pilates Intro Session, a private appointment, or to sign up for a class, go to our online Class Schedule. You will be prompted to create an account in order to register for a class/appointment or to make a purchase. You may browse and purchase class and appointment packages on our Online Store. We can also schedule and purchase packages for you over the phone or in the studio.

What if I can't make it to my class or private appointment?

We understand that life happens. If you decide that you cannot attend a class or private appointment that you have previously registered for, please early cancel your reservation no later than 4 hours before your class and no later than 24 hours before your appointment to avoid losing your purchase. All cancellations after this time are considered late and you will lose that class/appointment. Please note that no attempt to cancel or contact the studio will also result in a no-show fee, in addition to losing that class/appointment. A $10 no-show fee applies to classes and a $25 no-show fee applies to all Free Pilates Intro Sessions and private appointments.

Policies & Procedures

  • If you are a new client, you may either complete a Free Pilates Intro Session or you may sign up for the Free Pilates Intro Class (one introductory option per client). Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first visit to complete a new client form.
  • Class packages can be purchased on our online store. All packages have expiration dates and sessions must be used before that date. Please do not request extensions. Packages are not refundable and are only transferable to immediate family members.
  • Register for classes by using our online schedule. Please arrive on time to class or you may be asked not to attend that class. Inform your teacher of any physical or time restrictions. Clean all equipment after class.
  • Please remember to cancel classes that you are unable to attend by calling the studio or using the online schedule. There are two types of cancellations:
    • Early cancellation ends 4 hours prior to class. 
    • Late cancellation starts 4 hours prior to class and ends 30-minutes prior to class.
    • No-shows are classes you do not cancel prior to 30 minutes before class and do not attend. A no-show will result in your loss of that class and a $10 no-show fee.
  • Class will not be cancelled if there is a client registered. Classes with no registrations 4 hours before class will be cancelled. (The 6AM class must have at least 1 registration by 10PM the previous evening)
  • Please turn phones off or to silent during class and step outside for phone calls.
  • Clear your mind and forget the challenges you encountered during the day. This is your time.
  • By registering or attending classes, appointments, or events at Pilates Tempe, your photograph or video may be taken. Pilates Tempe retains the rights to use this media for, but not limited to, advertising, promotional material, and educational materials in any medium in any manner. You wave your right to any compensation or royalties that  may arise from the use of your image or video.

doTERRA Essential Oils


From Essential Oil Introduction classes to Make + Take workshops, we love sharing the incredible properties of doTERRA essential oils! See our events section on the home page for upcoming workshops and classes.

We also offer AromaTouch Technique right in the studio, providing an uplifting and healing experience through the application of eight handpicked essential oils. You can reserve your spot using our online schedule. We also provide individual essential oils and essential oil blends for purchase. Speak to any of our teachers to purchase an oil we have on hand or to place an order. 

B12 Injections


A B12 injection is a quick and easy injection of the B12 essential vitamin. It is administered by Naomi Placella, NMD and is completed in a matter of minutes. Appointments are available by request and drop-ins are offered Fridays from 10am-2pm at Pilates Tempe.

Why B12? This vitamin assists with a number of very important functions in the body. It helps with the conversion of fat and carbohydrates to boost energy, cellular regeneration, and the creation of protein & red blood cells. 

Deficiencies in people are possible, especially in older adults and vegetarians/vegans as plants do not create the B12 vitamin and it is only available through the consumption of animal products or through supplements and fortified foods such as grains. Those with conditions that interfere with nutrient absorption such as celiac or Crohn’s disease are also at risk for B12 deficiency.

B12 Injections are $20. Boosters (B6, B-Complex, Folic Acid, & M.E.C. Fat-Burning) are available to add for $5 each.
